5 Ways To Naturally Deal With A Toothache

Toothaches can come when you least expect them and cause you to scramble to find some way to get relief from the pain. That's why it will help to know the following natural remedies to deal with a toothache

Garlic

Believe it or not, you can actually relieve a toothache with garlic. It may not taste great and leave you with bad breath, but it can get the job done. This is due to the allicin found in the garlic that has antibacterial and antimicrobial properties. All you need to do is crush a single clove of garlic and hold it next to the part of your gums that is causing you pain. It's worth giving it a try if all you have on hand is garlic.

Vanilla Extract

Vanilla extract is not something that you want to accidentally swallow, but it does have antiseptic properties that can help you deal with a toothache. Using vanilla extract is as simple as putting a small amount on a cotton swab, and then holding it against your gums. It will certainly leave a better taste in your mouth than garlic at the very least.

Clove Oil

Another kitchen ingredient that you may have on hand is clove oil. Clove oil is effective at dealing with a toothache because it is going to numb the area of your mouth that is causing you discomfort. You would apply it to your gums in the same way as vanilla extract, which is by putting a small amount on a cotton swab.

Tea Bags

You may have heard about tea bags being used to relieve toothaches, but not sure why. If you have bacteria that is causing the toothache, peppermint tea bags contain antibacterial properties that are going to help heal the area. If you get rid of or lower the bacteria in the affected area, then the discomfort could diminish or go away. You can use tea bags by soaking them in hot water briefly, letting them cool off slightly, then putting them directly on the part of your gums that are hurting.

Ice Pack

Don't make the mistake of applying heat to cure a toothache, because it is going to likely cause swelling due to drawing out the infection. Instead, you'll want to use an ice pack to cool down the area. It simply numbs the gums to limit the discomfort you are feeling. Thankfully, everyone should have ice on hand to make a simple ice pack, so you always have this as a solution to try.
